Neither Thick Nor Thin

Joel Spolsky of Joel on Software finds a certain blog post so obsure, he decides to write a "Rashi" and "Tosfos" commentary to it that took three hours to complete. Somehow, I don't see an Artscroll version forthcoming.

String Around Toronto

An interesting article about Toronto's eruv has been published by the Globe and Mail, though, for reasons I can't fathom, in the Arts section (on their website only, paper edition has it in the Globe Toronto section). For the record, the cover picture shows the Highway 401 overpass over Bathurst St. (south side) which is within the eruv domain. One little odd nit; when first mentioning the rabbis it quotes the article uses "Rabbi" as the prefix but then reverts to "Mr." in subsequent quotes. Via Eruv Online.

Man, Oh, Mano-schewitz

Manischewitz (or is that Manischwoo-witz?), the venerable Jewish food company, is updating their image. The money quote? "It's not your bubbe's matzo and gefilte fish anymore." I remember a while ago they tried coming out with a line of "premium" Pesach products with the label of "Passover Gold". I figured at the time that it was called that in reference to the high prices one had to pay for a product that was the exact same as their other products. Via Elisheva Blogs.
